Liana Tate is a special event planner in Seattle. She grew up with a cosmetic surgeon for a father and a model for a mother, which left little room for outward imperfection. No wonder she felt she'd never measure up. Bryan Langley, a talented musician, was close to signing a recording contract when a barn fire left his face severely burned. He survived, but his career did not. Convinced his dreams were destroyed in the fire, Bryan struggles to start a new life. When Liana's father hires Bryan as a handyman on their estate, Liana and Bryan's lives become entangled. As their friendship grows, the young woman and musician are forced to confront their fears...and how they feel about each other.

Katherine Miller, driven by a need to be successful, is pursuing an acting career in New York. She’s close to getting her big break in a musical production when her younger sister unexpectedly dies in their small Wisconsin hometown. Foul play is suspected in Paige’s death and Katherine must decide to either stay in the town and help find her sister’s killer - or go back to New York, her career, and the boyfriend waiting there. The presence of mysterious Hunter Lane, the new minister in town, adds to her dilemma. Fighting her attraction to him, she questions the close friendship he had with her sister. Fear of failure at every turn propels Katherine into a world of conflict where she must decide what being successful really means and which path leads there.
